Verzia - Italian Peripheries
Verzia is a magazine focused on literary translation. It presents samples of literary works in Slovak translation, interviews with translators and foreign-language literatures experts, as well as articles on literature in translation and reviews. It creates a space in which the presentation of foreign literatures and cultures in translation by renowned translators is possible, and it also offers fresh graduates of translation studies the opportunity to enter the literary scene and collaborate with experienced editors. The "Italian" edition of Verzia brings together first-class authors united by other activities or work besides writing. There is a judge, a war surgeon, a mathematician, a jazz trumpeter and a dancer. And just as they themselves are often on the periphery of literature, their subject matter is also the periphery – whether of the city or of society. The selection was compiled by Michal Denci and Adriana Šulíková.
