Ovarius

Ovarius is the artistic moniker of musician, songwriter and producer Anna Óváry. Her music moves within the realm of alternative pop with references to the 1980s, while she herself sees it as an organic outcome – a by-product of therapy.

On 1 April 2026, she released her debut album Alone, featuring ten songs that thematically trace the journey from loneliness to consciously chosen solitude. The record draws inspiration from the synth-pop and art-pop of the 1980s and 1990s, while retaining a strong individual signature, elements of classic songwriting and occasional references to classical music.

Anna Óváry was previously best known as a member of the electronic duo Buy Her Sugar and through various collaborations. After several years, however, she decided to pursue a solo career, allowing her to present her work without creative or performance-related compromises.

She is a recipient of an Advance Investments Foundation award and was nominated for Discovery of the Year at the 2024 Radio_Head Awards. Ovarius performs in two formats: with a live band or in a more intimate solo setting.
