Nicol Hochholczerová

Hochholczerová's literary debut, This Room Is Impossible to Eat (2021), was nominated for the Anasoft Litera Award, and the author received the Young Creator Award as part of the Tatra banka Foundation Award for Art. The book has been translated into English, German, Spanish, Finnish, Czech, Polish, Hungarian, Serbian, Bulgarian, Ukrainian, and Macedonian. Three stage adaptations of the work have been presented: at the City Theatre Žilina (2023, directed by Eduard Kudláč), at the Czech theatre Kam jdeš? (2023, directed by Petr Michálek), and as a student theatre production by students of the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (2023, directed by Patrícia Rotterová, Divadlo LAB). A feature film based on the book is currently being prepared by director Barbora Berezňáková.

Her short stories have been published in the collections Poviedka (2016, 2019) and in the anthologies Mastný muž (2023) and Nemastná-neslaná (2026).
